BRADENTON, FL — The owners of M&L Cabinets, formerly located at 7320 Manatee Ave., are accused of defrauding their customers, according to a Bradenton Police Department news release.
Following a seven-month investigation, Ryan Nobles, 44, and Nicole Anderson, 38, were each charged with scheming to defraud in excess of $50,000, a first-degree felony.
In February, Detective Michael Carpenter began investigating complaints made by their customers, who reported making down payments for kitchen renovations that weren’t completed, police said.
Nearly two dozen customers made payments of several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars for products and services to the company. M&L Cabinets also failed to pay for cabinets ordered and received from a supplier.
Financial subpoenas for August 2022 through January show that Nobles used his company
credit card at casinos in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas and onboard cruise ships, BPD said. In five months, Nobles charged approximately $220,000.
During the same period, Anderson used her company credit card to make purchases and ATM withdrawals for about $90,000.
Nobles and Anderson continued to collect money from clients during this time.
“The actions of Nobles and Anderson show a continuous and systematic scheme to defraud clients out of money,” police said.
